Born in 1944.

An outstanding Russian pianist, composer and teacher, a graduate of the Musical-pedagogical institute named by Gnesins (1971). Igor has been playing jazz since 1959. He created his first jazz trio in 1962, was a participant of all Moscow jazz festivals (1964-1968). He took part in the “BIO-66” and Olexiy Kozlov’s music quartet (1966-1969). Igor was the founder of jazz faculty in the Gnesins’ institute. There he has been teaching since 1974. He was the first Professor of such a branch of science as “jazz music” of the Russian music academy. Bryl’ is the leader of “The Modern jazz ensemble” and a participator of numerous jazz festivals in Russia, Germany, France, Italy, Poland and the USA. Also he was an author of a joint project with the Youth academic choir (1989). In various times Igor’s partners were Oleksander Oseychuk (saxophone), Tatevic Oganesyan (female vocal), Anatoliy Kroll (piano). Since 1991 Bryl has been an invariable leader of a constantly working project “Igor Bryl’ and the New jazz generation”. Since 1996 Bryl’ has been constantly performing with his sons Oleksander and Dmytro, talented saxophonists. He is the author of well-known jazz pieces “Autumn”, “Our Samba”, “Before the Sunset”, “A Voyage to Blues”.
