Born in 1966
A famous bass-guitarist, composer, leader of jazz ensembles. Igor graduated from musical secondary school as an oboist, at the same time mastering his skills in bass-guitar. He was a leader of a well-known Lviv jazz-rock group “Fest” (1994-1997), a winner of several Ukrainian competitions in instrumental music. After Zakus moved to Kiev, he created the new “Fest” (1999), which gathered best jazz performers in Ukraine – Yuriy Shepeta (keyboards), Serhiy Ovsyannikov (guitar), Vitaliy Ivanov (saxophones) and Serhiy Tabunshik (drums). Playing in the “Fest”, Zakus performed on festivals in Vinnitsa, Nicopol, Dnipropetrovsk, Kursk (Jazz countryside’2000, Russia), Pshemyshl (Poland) and Lviv (JazzBez’2001). Also he organised the “Z-brothers” group with Pavel Shepeta (keyboard), Maksim Kochetov (saxophone) and Maksim Malyshev (drums). Zakus is an author of famous pieces: “Dedication”, “Under impression”, “Nostalgia”. By the way, “Dedication” is performed by well-known American jazzmen – Tony Guerrero (trumpet), whom Zakus was collaborating with in 2001, and Bryan Bromberg (bass-guitar).
Igor performs in different projects of “funk”, “jazz-rock” and “soul” styles. He was a participant of the project “I love Brazil” (2003). Nowadays he is finishing working under the first solo CD “Dedications” (2003). Discography:
