One of the most well-known Ukrainian jazz groups, formed of experienced performers. The group was created in Kharkiv in 1996. All participants of the “Skhid-Side” are capable of playing in all possible jazz styles, whence it follows a great number of various programmes mostly of original musicians’ pieces. Moreover, all Group’s participants form the three of the best jazz musicians of Ukraine. Since 1998 “Skhid-Side” has been touring a lot via Ukraine, Russia, Poland, Germany, Sweden, Finland. The collaboration with a famous Finland pianist Mika Pohyola and Ukrainian singers Lilia Gryevtsova and Anastasiya Markova was a very interesting and prolific one. Musicians of the Group are frequently playing with other ensembles. Denys Dudko (bass-guitar), for example collaborates with Russian musicians, amongst Danylo Kramer, Oleksiy Kuznetsov, Gasan Bagirov and David Goloschokin.
The Group took part in many Ukrainian jazz festivals and worthy represented Ukraine on the International Ukraine-Poland festival “Jazz Bez” (2001) and the competition of young jazz musicians in Getzo, Spain (2001). “Skhid-Side” are also famous for their original versions of pop hits of the Soviet period and the present-day.
Since 2001 the Group has been living and working in Kiev.
