The Group was organised in 1994 by Volodymyr Mihnovetskiy, an invariable leader and arranger, a conductor and chorus master of the Sextet. His main aim was to create a Ukrainian vocal group to become a European alternative to a world-famous American sextet “Take 6”. Since 1996 “ Mansound” has been taking part in numerous jazz festivals, getting considerable fame in Russia and Byelorussia. The Group is a winner of several vocal competetions in Moscow (1998) and Minsk (1999), a participator of the “Jazz Days” of the “Slavic bazaar in Vitebsk” festival (1997-98). “Mansound” took part in the Hampton’s jazz festival in Moscow (USA), owing to a personal invitation of Lionel Hampton, a legendary jazz vibraphonist. During its history there were many soloists in “Mansound” such as Konstantin Pona, Vyacheslav Rubel’, Pavlo Il’chuk, singing in the Group. “Mansound” performed togather with Oleksiy Kozlov (saxophone, 1999-2000) and a female singer Gaytana on the “Slavic bazaar in Kiev” (2000). The Sextet is a winner of vocal competitions in Finland (2002), Austria (2003), an honoured guest of well-known festivals “Jazz countryside” (Kursk, Russia) and festivals in Vinnitsa and Donetsk. Also “Mansound” took part in famous musical programmes on TV – “TET” (“35 minutes of jazz”), “Inter” and “1+1”.
